Built in the late 1980s, the major commercial precinct, which covers 30,000m2, was operating heating and cooling equipment well beyond its working life. Inefficient equipment was adding unnecessary operation costs and reduced the attractiveness of the property to prospective tenants.
The project involved a $3.2 million upgrade to the heating and cooling system for the precinct, alongside the installation of a new building control system. Since the upgrade, annual energy costs for the owner and its 13 tenants were reduced by $250,000 and emissions reduced by over 2,600 tCO2e annually.
